Description:  Job Summary:
Responsible for maintaining and operating the Local Area Networks (LAN)/Wide Area Networks (WAN) supporting Shannon Medical Center. This includes providing technical assistance, training, and hands-on help for all network hardware and software, and reconfiguration of LANs/WANs as required.

Working Conditions:
Works in a well-lighted and air-conditioned environment; occasional periods of heavy workload and
stress. Must be willing to take call on a rotating basis.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Advanced knowledge and understanding of a range of computer and networking software and hardware systems and related technologies. This includes, but is not limited to: Windows OS, Active Directory, Microsoft Exchange, complex client/server network applications; TCP/IP routing; communication lines, including frame relay and ISDN; and Cisco network equipment.

Knowledge of computer/network systems infrastructure and requirements and standards. Ability to determine computer/network problems and to coordinate hardware and/or software solutions.

Knowledge of current technological developments/trends in area of expertise. Knowledge of computer security systems, applications, procedures, and techniques. Ability to install, configure, and maintain personal computers, networks, and/or related hardware and software.

Skill in oral and written communication and interpersonal relations with a wide range of people. Ability to
communicate technical information to non-technical personnel.

Ability to adhere to hospital policies and procedures governing patient privacy, appropriate access and
confidentiality of patient information.

Ability to serve the customer and live the values of Shannon Health.

Education and/or Experience:

Associate Degree in Computer Science or MIS or equivalent experience. Thorough understanding of NT in LAN/WAN environment. Experience with Microsoft BackOffice products, including SQL and Exchange server. Knowledge of Visual Basic or C++ helpful.

License, Certification of Registration:

CCNP or MSCE preferred.
